Demand surged but container vessel on-time arrival rate hit the low
Sea Intelligence released the global container vessel on-time arrival report for NOVEMBER,2021.
According to the report, the average on-time arrival rate dropped to 50.1% for 34 shipping lines in November, which is the lowest. The second and third lowest scores came in September and October.
Meanwhile, vessel delays are not only more frequent, but also longer. the average number of days late reaches 5.1, increasing 11% compared with 4.51 days in Aug, according to Sea Intelligence calculations.
With ports generally congested, shipping lines won’t decrease the capacity until the Chinese New Year. There won’t be the improvement on the on-time arrival rate until the 2nd quarter of 2021.
The recovery on the on-time arrival rate depends both on the shipping lines and the ports.
